What kind of work do you specialize in?

I specialize in moment-driven, human-centered storytelling, focusing on capturing real life with empathy and putting people at ease through active listening. My work typically involves partnering with foundations and non-profits to put a human face on their missions, editorial outlets in need of authentic photojournalism, and commercial brands looking for a documentary-style, "unscripted" feel for their campaigns. My goal is always to make the experience of being filmed or photographed feel natural and comfortable rather than intimidating.

Can you help with story development or scripting, or do I need to bring a finished idea?

Yes, I love helping shape stories from the ground up. I frequently collaborate with my creative partner, Lindsey Seavert, and together we co-founded the film company, Tiny Window, and share a studio in Minneapolis. With our experience co-directing the documentary Love Them First along with hundreds of other videos, we bring a comprehensive approach to projects, from initial story development and scripting to storyboarding and interviews.

What kind of gear do you use?

I use professional-grade Canon 4K cinema cameras (C70 and R5C) for my work. My full kit also includes a DJI drone, handheld stabilizers, GoPros, slider, a complete lighting setup, and professional-level audio kits (multiple Sennheiser G4’s). This allows me to handle a wide range of projects, from "run-and-gun" shoots to multi-camera interviews. For larger doc projects, I collaborate with an excellent on-site sound engineer.

Do you offer drone photography and video?

Yes—I’m fully FAA-certified and equipped for both aerial video and still photography using a DJI drone. I can safely and legally capture high-quality drone visuals to elevate your project.

Do you work with a film editor?

Yes. While I often edit my own work, I regularly collaborate with the talented editor Renny McCauley for larger projects or quick turnarounds. He shares a space in our studio and brings a sharp eye and deep storytelling instincts to every edit. Renny is also amazing at social media cut-downs for shorter, snappier versions for Instagram and TikTok.

What is the typical turnaround time for a film or photo project?

Every project is unique, but I prioritize clear communication from the start. For a standard short-form documentary or brand story, you can typically expect a first draft within 2–4 weeks of filming. If you’re on a tight deadline for a gala or a social media launch, Renny and I are well-equipped to handle quick turnarounds.

Do I get to keep the raw footage or high-res files?

For photography, I provide high-resolution, edited JPEGs via a private online gallery. For film, the final edited deliverables are yours to use across all platforms. If your team needs the raw "rushes" or project files for future internal use, I’m happy to discuss licensing or hard drive transfers as part of our initial scope of work.

Would you travel for a project?

Yes, absolutely. I'm based just minutes from Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport and regularly travel for documentary and video projects. I'm always up for following a great story—wherever it takes me.

How much do you charge for photo or film work?

I work with a range of budgets, including both corporate and non-profit clients, and I'm always happy to discuss how we can find a way to make a project work. Before starting, I'll provide a detailed scope of work that outlines costs, deliverables, and timelines so there are no surprises.

Do you offer discounted rates for non-profits, community organizations, or independent artists?

Absolutely. I am committed to supporting organizations and artists who are working to make the world a better place. I always offer non-profit rates and am open to discussing budgets with smaller community groups and independent artists.

Are you open to collaborating with in-house content teams?

For sure. I genuinely enjoy the collaborative process and am happy to take creative direction from whomever. My process always starts with listening and clarifying the project's core objectives. A clear focus—whether it's a specific person's story or a key message—is essential for me to prepare for shoots and create a compelling narrative.

What’s the best way to start a conversation about working together?

The best way to get started is to reach out via email, phone, or text. From there, a quick virtual meeting on Zoom or Google Meet is often the most efficient way to discuss your project in detail and determine if I'm the right fit.
